My take: This is the most adult Gundam has felt since Unicorn. The animation by Sunrise is just absurd — the night battle in the first 20 minutes has no music, just beam rifle echoes and rain, and it's more tense than any big space laser fight. It's slow, political, and Hathaway is a genuinely unpleasant protagonist, which is the point. If you want fun robot punching, you'll be bored. If you want a story about how the idealism of the last war rots into terrorism, it's fantastic.

I like that take on Hathaway
He is hard to warm to and that makes the story hit more
The slow pace works for me too
The quiet fight at the start sounds like a strong way to open it
I want a Gundam tale with weight more than just big fights
