Is Töregene Secretly Becoming Sitara's Greatest Political Equal?

In Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia, Is Töregene Secretly Becoming Sitara's Greatest Political Equal?

The obvious interpretation is that Sitara is the intellectual strategist while Töregene is the powerful woman positioned inside the Mongol royal family. But perhaps the story is deliberately setting them up as something more complicated: two different kinds of political intelligence gradually becoming equals.

The official story already establishes that their partnership is extremely important. Töregene has her own tragic history and hatred toward the Mongol Empire, while Sitara is pursuing revenge after losing her home and family. Their shared motivation eventually brings them together.

The theory is that neither woman is actually meant to remain subordinate to the other.

Sitara understands information, medicine, education and political manipulation. Töregene, meanwhile, possesses something Sitara initially lacks: direct access to the people controlling the empire.

That creates an almost perfect partnership.

Sitara can understand how information can be used, while Töregene understands where information needs to go.

The official episodes reinforce this contrast. Töregene uses her position as Ögedei's wife to attend political gatherings and gather intelligence, while Sitara develops plans intended to create divisions among powerful members of the Mongol leadership.

This leads to an interesting fan theory: perhaps the real long-term story is not simply Sitara's revenge against the Mongol Empire, but the creation of an informal political alliance between women who understand that the empire's greatest vulnerability is not necessarily its military power.

It may be its internal relationships.

That would explain why their relationship can be more interesting than a conventional hero-and-sidekick partnership. Sitara does not simply tell Töregene what to do. Töregene does not simply provide Sitara with protection. Both women possess knowledge the other needs.

The theory becomes particularly compelling because Jaadugar repeatedly emphasizes political maneuvering rather than straightforward battles. By Episode 8, Sitara is helping court scribes and gaining access to increasingly influential people, while simultaneously advancing her plan to create internal division.

Perhaps the ultimate "weapon" of the two women is therefore not revenge itself.

It is coordination.

Sitara alone might be too vulnerable. Töregene alone might be trapped by her position within the royal family. Together, however, they can potentially operate from both sides of the political structure.

There is also an emotional interpretation of the theory. Sitara begins her journey driven heavily by revenge, while Töregene's own experiences have shaped her hatred of the empire. If their relationship changes over time, they may eventually discover that they want something different from simple revenge.

Maybe the real conspiracy is that the two women are slowly developing a political vision that neither originally possessed.

Again, this is not confirmed. But it provides an interesting way to watch their scenes: instead of asking "What is Sitara planning?", ask "What can Sitara and Töregene accomplish together that neither could accomplish alone?"
