Could the Supernatural and Extraterrestrial Worlds Be Connected by One Hidden Rule?

DAN DA DAN thrives on an unusual combination of ghosts, aliens, psychic abilities, strange creatures, and absurd comedy. One of its most entertaining fan theories is that these seemingly different phenomena may actually follow a common underlying rule.

At first, ghosts and extraterrestrials appear to belong to completely separate categories. Ghost stories are associated with spiritual beliefs and local legends, while aliens are connected to advanced technology and visitors from outer space. The series deliberately places both kinds of phenomena in the same world, often producing bizarre situations when the characters encounter them.

But what if the distinction between the supernatural and the extraterrestrial is not as clear as the characters initially assume?

Two Explanations for the Unknown

A central source of comedy in the series is the disagreement about whether ghosts or aliens exist. The characters' experiences gradually challenge their original assumptions, forcing them to accept that the world is stranger than they believed.

The fan theory suggests that this is more than a humorous way to bring two genres together.

Perhaps the story is exploring how different beings can encounter the same unknown reality while interpreting it through completely different frameworks.

Humans might call something a ghost because it resembles the spirits described in folklore. Another civilization might classify an apparently similar phenomenon as an unusual energy form or an unexplained biological entity.

Neither explanation would necessarily capture the complete truth.

This possibility would allow the series to connect its supernatural and science-fiction elements without making every ghost an alien or every alien a spirit.

Instead, both groups might be encountering different expressions of a larger phenomenon.
Could Spiritual Energy and Alien Technology Interact?
Another version of the theory focuses on the abilities and technologies appearing throughout the story.

The characters encounter phenomena that do not behave according to ordinary physical expectations. Some abilities appear connected to spiritual forces, while other threats are associated with extraterrestrial beings and unfamiliar technology.

What if these powers interact because they operate on overlapping principles?

For example, an advanced alien civilization might possess technology capable of detecting phenomena that humans cannot normally perceive. Conversely, a supernatural ability might affect an extraterrestrial entity in ways that conventional weapons cannot.

Such interactions would create opportunities for the characters to solve problems by combining knowledge from seemingly unrelated fields.

Momo's psychic abilities and Okarun's encounters with supernatural forces already give the story a foundation for exploring unusual combinations of power. The theory imagines that future mysteries could require the characters to stop treating science and folklore as mutually exclusive explanations.

This would also give the series room to introduce increasingly bizarre enemies without making its worldbuilding feel entirely random.

The Conspiracy Theory: Someone Knows More Than They Admit

The more conspiratorial version imagines that some of the entities encountered in DAN DA DAN understand the relationship between these phenomena better than humans do.

Perhaps certain beings have observed humanity for a long time. Perhaps they recognize patterns that the main characters have only begun to notice. Or perhaps different groups have developed competing explanations for the same underlying mystery.

If this were true, an apparently isolated encounter could contain clues about a much larger conflict.

A creature might attack for reasons beyond simple hostility. An extraterrestrial visitor might possess information about a supernatural phenomenon. A local legend might preserve distorted memories of an event that people no longer understand.

These possibilities would turn the series' strange encounters into pieces of a broader puzzle.

However, there is no confirmation that a single organization or hidden intelligence coordinates all supernatural and extraterrestrial events in the story. That part remains speculation.
